The Lenola Fire Company was organized in late 1922. The first motorized apparatus was a Ford Model T chemical truck, purchased in 1923. The Fire Company moved into its new firehouse at 9 N. Lenola Road in 1925. That building served the Company until 1961 when a new station was built at 229 N. Lenola Road. This is the current headquarters of the Fire Company.
The Lenola Fire Company provides fire protection for Fire District #2, Moorestown Township. Our district is the Western side of Moorestown, which includes the Moorestown Industrial Park, the Moorestown Mall and many other commercial properties. The company also provides mutual aid for all nearby departments.
The Fire Company is primarily funded through Fire District #2 taxes, administered by the Board of Fire Commissioners, Fire District #2, Moorestown Township. In addition the company accepts donations so that it can provide community events.
The Lenola Fire Company is staffed by 45 volunteer firefighters. All of the volunteers are required to attend fire training classes to be active and permanent members of the department. In addition, the Company has 3 fire police members, all who are long time members, to provide traffic control at fire scenes.
The breakdown of the current fire apparatus in service by the Lenola Fire Company is as follows;
Engine 3132.....A 2001 Pierce Rescue pumper. It has a 1500 gpm pump and a 750 gallon tank. This truck also carries a complete modern Holmatro rescue set.
Squirt 3133 ..A 1991 Pierce Squirt. It has a 1250 gpm pump and a 750 gallon tank. This truck also has a 54 ft articulating boom.
Ladder 3135 ..A 2007 Pierce 95 ft. tower ladder. This truck has a 2000 gpm pump and a full compliment of ground ladders.
Command 3130 ..A 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe command vehicle
Support 3138 ..A 2008 Ford F-250 Fire Police / Support vehicle
The Lenola Fire Company supports the Moorestown Township Office of Emergency Management. The Moorestown Township Office of Emergency Management exists to serve the emergency needs of the community whether it be a natural distaster, major storm system, long-term power outages, chemical or hazardous material incident or terrorist threat. Comminity Emergency Response Training is available through the Moorestown Township Office of Emergency Management.
Lenola Fire Company is interested in additional volunteers who are interested in serving the community. Applicants are requires to be at least 16 years of age and either live or work in Moorestown Township. The Company meets every 2nd Monday night of the month and conducts drills the other Monday evenings.
